Powermatic 12" Parallelogram Helical Cutterhead Jointer with ArmorGlide 3hp, 1PH, 230V
Now featuring ArmorGlide Technology, the Powermatic 1285T 12-Inch Jointer offers big capacity and performance in a machine loaded with features. A large center-mounted fence assembly adjusts easily by a rack and pinion system with ram lock. Preset stops on the fence body allow for fast angle set-up at 45° in and out, and a positive stop for perfect 90° angles.
The parallelogram design keeps the table in close proximity to the cutterhead for improved finish and allows for a fast depth of cut adjustment. This design also ensures the tables remain perfectly parallel even after years of tough duty. This model features a helical cutterhead.
ArmorGlide Technology pros

Maintenance Tips
-
Cleaning the Machine:
- Regularly wipe down the table, fence, and all components with a soft cloth to remove dust, wood chips, and debris.
- Use a vacuum or compressed air to clean out the dust collection system and prevent clogs.
-
Inspect and Maintain Cutterhead:
- Periodically inspect the helical cutterhead for dull or damaged knives. Replace or rotate the cutter inserts as needed to maintain sharpness and cutting quality.
- Clean the cutterhead and surrounding areas to remove any resin buildup or debris that could affect performance.
-
Lubricate the Parallelogram Bed:
- Apply a light coat of lubricant to the parallelogram mechanism and the bed rails to ensure smooth adjustments and minimize wear.
- Regularly check the adjustment handles for smooth operation and tighten them if necessary.
-
Inspect the Fence and Adjustments:
- Check the fence for proper alignment and ensure it is securely locked in place during use.
- Clean the fence surface and inspect it for damage. Adjust the fence to maintain square alignment with the table.
-
Check the Motor and Electrical Components:
- Ensure the motor is securely mounted and check for any unusual noises or vibrations. If there are issues, have the motor inspected by a qualified technician.
- Inspect electrical connections for any signs of wear or fraying. Keep the power cord and switch in good working condition.
-
Dust Collection System:
- Regularly inspect the dust collection port and hose for blockages. Keep the system clean to maintain optimal suction and prevent debris buildup.
- Empty the dust bag or container frequently to prevent overfilling.
-
Inspect and Adjust the Tables:
- Check the infeed and outfeed tables for any signs of wear or misalignment. Ensure they are level and parallel to the cutterhead to achieve smooth cuts.
- Adjust the tables if needed to maintain the correct height and alignment.
-
Check for Loose Bolts and Screws:
- Periodically inspect the entire machine for loose bolts, screws, or fasteners. Tighten all loose components to ensure the machine remains stable during operation.
