Maintenance Tips
Maintain the Fuel System: If using gasoline, drain the fuel tank if the generator will be idle for extended periods and use fuel stabilizer to avoid fuel degradation. For propane, ensure the propane tank is securely attached and free from leaks.
Inspect and Clean the Spark Plug: Regularly inspect the spark plug for buildup or wear. Clean or replace it to ensure the engine starts easily and runs smoothly.
Monitor the Battery: For models with electric start, check the battery charge level and ensure the connections are clean and secure. Charge the battery as needed.
Check the Exhaust System: Inspect the exhaust system for any signs of rust, blockages, or leaks. Clean it regularly and ensure the exhaust is free-flowing to avoid carbon buildup.
Tighten Bolts and Fasteners: Ensure that all fasteners, including those around the engine and fuel tank, are tight and secure to avoid vibrations and loose parts during operation.
Check the CO Alert System: Regularly test the CO Alert system to ensure it is functioning properly. Replace batteries if needed, and clean the sensors to maintain effectiveness.
Clean the Generator: After use, clean the generator by removing dirt, dust, and debris, especially around the cooling vents and engine. Use a soft cloth or brush to avoid damaging the components.
Test Run Monthly: Run the generator for 10-15 minutes each month to keep the engine lubricated and in good working condition.
